Woodhill Hall Wedding Photography
What a wedding!! It was what can be described as a festival, vintage, do it yourself, alternative wedding. With bands, teepees, marquees and street food. Also with such a beautiful couple. This wedding saw me head back to Newcastle to photograph a wedding of a couple I first met 10 years ago. I first met Phil, the groom, while he was working at a local pub and we had a mutual friend, who was one of the best men. I then moved to Preston to start uni and hadn’t seen Phil for years, when he was on the search for a wedding photographer our mutual friend put him in touch with me. The wedding was amazing and the venue was brilliant.
The wedding was at Woodhill Hall in Northumberland, an alternative wedding venue with so many different places for photographs. The couple and their families had all stayed the night before and turned the venue into a home. When I arrived everyone was doing finishing touches and putting up decorations. It was so relaxed it felt like we were at a family home. The bride was away from the main house getting her hair and make up done with her bridesmaids.
The wedding ceremony was in the the conservatory. The bride looked amazing in her vintage style wedding dress. The couple said their vows with Phil slipping into a french accent for his. There were a few tears, a few laughs and a lot of smiling.
The drinks reception was in a teepee with bucks fizz in tea cups and the brilliant Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra provided a mix of swing, gypsy jazz, blues musical entertainment. The location was perfect for wedding photographs. As this was a bit different to the traditional wedding day the speeches were then done, which were also very funny and emotional. The wedding breakfast was provided by street style festival vans that pulled up outside.
The night do was in a marquee in a field with a funk band providing the entertainment.
I love being a wedding photographer and sharing such a special day. It was such an honour to share it with someone I know. I wish Phil and Lucy all the happiness together in their married life.
I also love traveling up to the North East for weddings as I can tie it in with visiting my family.
